In mid-April 2024, at the height of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, a group of like-minded individuals set up an encampment opposite the US Embassy in London, calling for an end to US-backed crimes in Palestine. The Community Camp 4 Palestine (cc4pal) initially stayed for a week. As Israeli-US-Western imperialist crimes in Palestine escalated, we re-established the encampment in September 2024 and it continues to this day.  Cc4pal is inspired by the non-stop picket outside the South African Embassy in London from 1986 – 1990, calling for the release of Nelson Mandela. Cc4pal is a direct descendant of that picket, sharing its anti-apartheid and anti-imperialist emphases. Israel exists to serve the interests of the US state and its ruling class, with the UK and other subordinated states fully committed to the same imperialist project. Israel could not survive a day without the military, economic and political support of the US and its allies. Cc4pal has established itself as an anti-imperialist base, joining forces with other causes to resist Israeli-US-Western imperialism, whether in Latin America, West Asia or Africa. We expose their crimes, counter their narratives and dismantle their hegemony. Palestinian sumud and anti-colonial resistance lie at the heart of everything we do.  Over two years, cc4pal has welcomed truly inspiring pro-Palestinian speakers from around the world. These include academics, activists, artists, authors, healthcare workers, human rights experts, musicians and politicians. Just as inspiring are the hundreds of activists who have given their time and energy to keeping cc4pal going, to navigate the atrocities we are forced to witness with others they may have nothing else in common with, other than a pressing need to do what is right.  Free Palestine.
